How to take professional product photographs? Make sure the client knows what they want, just so it doesn't go back and forth. Unfortunately, many clients don't really know what they want, I learnt this the hard way. This can cause unnecessary stress on both sides. Make sure you ask our client all the questions before starting to shoot. This will help you avoid a lot of extra work. Be SMART - Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic, and Timely!!!
1. Ask if the photos need to be square, landscape, portrait or any specific size;
2. Ask as many details as you can.
3. Does it need to be clean white/ black - photoshop, or just a white background? Although I asked this question clearly, one client said he just wants a white background, not photoshopped only to be asked to do the photoshop version after...;
4. Have a photography contract ready with all the details specified by the client to avoid any unnecessary trouble. 5. Have Lightroom and Photoshop ready; You'll need to know how to crop.
